El Aleznal offers self-catering accommodation in a traditional Extremaduran farmhouse or cortijo. It is located in a 1200 acre estate that has been owned for centuries by the Condes de Adanero and is now the property of their descendants.
The house has three double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a fully-equipped kitchen. It also has a courtyard with orange and lemon trees, perfect for an evening drink, and a small garden at the front with a barbecue. The surrounding estate is ideal for walking and watching wildlife, including eagles, vultures, storks and wild boar.
The property is just off the main road connecting Trujillo and Cáceres, which are both well worth a visit, as is the town of Montánchez, renowned for its cured ham (jamón serrano).
El Aleznal is an excellent location from which to visit the Monfragüe National Park, the Monastery and shrine at Guadalupe and the Roman city of Mérida.
